It was the year 2021 and we were at Jeddah. On the last curve, Max Verstappen he had violently hit the wall with his right rear on the last corner after one lap superlative. He took the pole Lewis Hamilton. They're almost gone two years and the #44 car returns before all.
Lewis' joy after the round
By 3 thousandths Hamilton takes P1 in these qualifications spectacular. The new format seems work, and it seems that the W14 has found its shape. A pole that seems to be the first for the seven-time world champion, who set the fastest lap on Saturday 104 times higher. In fact, this is how she told it in the interviews after qualifying: “It's been a really crazy year and a half. I lost my voice because I shouted so much in the car. It's a fantastic feeling and I'm really grateful to be here again because the team has worked so hard. We pushed hard to finally get to pole, and it's like the first time for me right now.". Lewis then continued with his usual thanks to the public which he defined as one of the best on the calendar: “I would like to say a big thank you to the audience who are always fantastic here in Budapest every year, wow”.

Hamilton sincere: "I didn't expect to fight for pole"
The emotion of a driver who has scored so many pole positions shouldn't be like this exaggerated. The latter, however, derives from the factor surprise. In fact, as also confirmed by Lewis himself, no one here expected to fight for P1: “I didn't expect that we could fight for pole. On the last lap I gave absolutely everything, there was nothing left to squeeze out".
A type of return to the past for Mercedes Benz, who tomorrow will have to defend themselves from the assault of Verstappen and Lando Norris.
