It's nice to finally see smiles in the Haas house, after years of tension, anger, nervousness. The results weren't coming, the team was falling apart. There was no worse climate than this for a young boy in his first time in a Formula 1 single-seater. Mick Schumacher's future began right in the year of uncertainty. The 2021 Haas single-seater was the same as the previous year, a badly made creature, with no updates, decidedly uncomfortable for anyone, let alone a rookie who wants to build his career right away. Yes, because the first year is the one in which everyone has their eyes on you, in which everyone demands a result, a demonstration of your talent, which justifies your presence in Formula 1.
The promise was to come back this season, with a competitive single-seater that was worth the wait. The new era has brought a more serene air to the Haas household. The results say it, the smiles impressed in the photographs to celebrate the excellent placement of the pilots. And as difficult as it may have been for Mick not to score points for just one position, the German's enthusiasm goes deeper than this first result.
“We suffered, more after the contact in Bahrain, but in the end it went well, I got away with a 360. The climate at Haas? All motivated and happy for a car that gives optimism and has room for growth. We have updates planned” Mick Schumacher told the microphones of Formula 1, a few days after having also celebrated his twentythird birthday. Updates that never arrived until last year and that now rekindle the hope of everyone within the team.
A season started in an excellent way also by the other Haas driver, an old acquaintance of the team, Kevin Magnussen.
Regarding the strong result and his return to a Formula 1 car in Bahrain Kevin said: “Last weekend was very satisfying and surprising. Room for growth? I don't know, but it's not like I felt very rusty. I immediately felt good, I will certainly improve physically. My neck hurt after the GP, but it didn't hurt me much".
