Towards a recovery. In home Haas season 2023 of Formula 1 it certainly wasn't one of the best years for the American team. Eighth place in the manufacturers ranking and many ups and downs. A year of transition, in view of the next one which, at least from some sources, seems to have already become Steiner and his main objective.
Haas, big updates coming. Komatsu: “It will be an important package”
With a VF-23 that is not particularly convincing in terms of race pace, with the degradation phenomenon that has often compromised the excellent results obtained by the pilots Haas in qualifying (Hulkenberg especially), Haas is already working on the 2024 car. Precisely for this reason, in view of the United States GP – scheduled for the weekend between 20 and 22 October –, the team led on the track by team principal Steiner will bring a completely new car. This was announced following the Japanese GP by the head of track engineers Ayao Komatsu"It will be a fairly radical change: from sidepods to bottoms and beyond. It will be very extensive indeed. We are not talking about a change of a front or rear wing but with new aerodynamic characteristics, which will be very different indeed. It's going to be a really great update package".

“How much faster will we be? You'll see it soon."
No one knows yet how successful these updates will be, but there is certainly no lack of hope: “We are working – admitted Komatsu – on a car concept that is quite different from the current one, which is why we did everything we could to learn as many things as possible and as I can to think that what we have collected and learned this year in view of the presentation of next year's car is something quite important. I can't say for sure in terms of performance or race pace that we will be faster by "x" tenths or seconds, but I really believe we did a good job. You will see it soon".
