It is by no means an easy situation in Emilia-Romagna. The region is experiencing a very critical phase following the bad weather, from code red, which has affected numerous provinces and beyond. Imola, in which this weekend was expected the sixth round of the Formula 1 season, turns out to be one of the cities affected and victims of a rain that has no intention of stopping.

The Santerno also overflows during the night
Yesterday, being Tuesday, many insiders were already present at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari racetrack to set up the paddock in view of the Imola GP. The strong storm hit yesterday in Imola brought to the flooding of the Santerno river, provoking not a little damage around the circuit. Insiders were invited to evacuate the area and wait for news from the local authorities before being able to return to the circuit. The images speak for themselves, but what is most worrying is the Formula 2 and Formula 3 paddock (scheduled for this weekend), which is heavily flooded following a new wave had by the river in the middle of the night.

Imola GP: Grand Prix cancelled
In the morning the circuit remained closed. Around lunchtime, the meeting between the local authorities and the organizers of the event took place. At the end of the meeting, the decision emerged is very clear: the Grand Prix was officially cancelled. The request of Minister Salvini was therefore accepted, who in the morning had requested the cancellation of the Grand Prix. No news has been reported regarding the possibility of recovery during the season.
