The decision was in the air and, in the end, no better choice could have been made. Formula 1 stops and will not run this weekend in Imola, for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. The sixth event of the season has therefore been cancelled, following the terrible conditions da red code which are currently affecting most of the cities in the region.

Imola GP cancelled, Domenicali: "It's a tragic situation"
Following the meeting held in the morning, it was decided not to race this weekend. To confirm it it was Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali himself, who stated:
“It is truly tragic to see what is happening in Imola and in Emilia-Romagna, the city and region where I grew up. My thoughts and prayers go out to the flood victims and their families. I also want to express my gratitude and admiration for the incredible emergency services who are working tirelessly to help all the people who ask for help: you are heroes and Italy is proud of you. The decision was made for everyone's good. Formula 1 needs to ensure safety and not create more chaos for the authorities as they deal with this dire situation."
Ben Sulayemm: "My thoughts go out to all those affected"
They are not lacking either the words of the president of the FIA, Ben Sulayemm: "My thoughts and those of the entire FIA go out to all the people who have been affected by the terrible situation in Emilia-Romagna. Everyone's safety coupled with recovery efforts is the top priority at this time."
