Surprisingly, when you least expect it, news arrives that is undoubtedly pleasing to Italians. Let's talk about Antonio Giovinazzi e of his return to Formula One which doesn't seem to be that far away.
The big news
In fact today the Haas has formalized, through an official press release, that Antonio Giovinazzi will board the VF-22 during the first free practice session in Italy, in front of his audience therefore, and in the GP of the United States of America scheduled as always in Austin. A very special message from the American stable, which perhaps highlights the great possibility that Giovinazzi has to be able to return to the paddock next season. It is not excluded that a little thought about the Apulian driver, Haas is also doing it, with Schumacher's future which as we know is still highly in doubt.
Teams watch
It didn't end there. The one granted by Haas will in fact be one great opportunity also for Alpine and Williams, the two teams strongly interested in Giovinazzi. The Italian rider is one of the targets of the Alpine. At Enstone indeed, after the now certain farewell of Piastri, the possibility of a return of Ricciardo he doesn't excite and Giovinazzi's experience can make the difference on the competition. Same speech at home Williams, with Latifs getting closer to goodbye.
Steiner: "Happy to welcome Giovinazzi"
Clearly, following the announcement, the words of the Haas Steiner team principals:
“We are happy to welcome Antonio Giovinazzi back to the team for the two outings of FP1. Ferrari were keen to give Antonio some seats in a current specification Formula 1 car at a race weekend and we were naturally happy to assist. We experienced a similar situation in 2017 with Antonio and Ferrari: the clear difference between then and now is the experience he will have gained competing in the previous three seasons in Formula 1 and the feedback he will be able to give us in Italy and America. I can't wait to see Antonio in the paddock with us again”.
Giovinazzi: "I can't wait"
In addition to the Haas team principal, they also register Giovinazzi's statements:
"I am delighted to have the chance to drive in F1 again. In addition to driving in the simulator, it's important to test a real car and I can't wait to put my suit and helmet back on. It will be an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the new generation single-seaters: it's the best way to be ready should you be called up as a reserve driver. Driving on challenging and exciting circuits like Monza and COTA makes it even more exciting. Thanks to the Haas F1 Team and Scuderia Ferrari, I can't wait to give my contribution to the team that was already counting on me in 2017.”
