If Formula 1 is on break we haven't noticed it yet. Yes, because the noise of the engines was promptly replaced with that of fluttering sheets and clicks. With hidden contracts and then brought out as a defense, clauses and good exits, indiscretions and so on. All this after a long first part of the season in which "twists" in the driver market seemed to be the order of the day. But you know, in Formula 1 things rarely go as planned, like this the first unforeseen events arrived with the arrival of the summer season. The great "trigger" that undermined the tranquility of the "Silly season” was the announcement of retirement of Sebastian Vettel, at the gates of the Hungarian GP. The arrival of Fernando Alonso in Aston Martin and the break between Oscar piastri e the Alpine, who had reserved that second seat for the young driver, put even more meat on the fire. The names to replace Alonso are many. Among these is also that of Pierre Gasly that, could disengage from AlphaTauri due to a clause in his contract.
The hypotheses on the bench
At the moment the most suitable name to replace Alonso is that of Daniel Ricciardo, found himself in the most awkward position of all. McLaren would appear ready to dump him despite a valid contract for 2023, to make room for Oscar Piastri, who has already signed a pre-contract with the English team, in the absence of news on Alonso's renewal. To unload Ricciardo, however, he would first have to guarantee him a seat. The only one available is the Alpine one, which however would not be so enthusiastic about hosting Daniel again, after the breakup in 2020. The situation could therefore remain pending, with Ricciardo stuck on his 2023 contract and Piastri without a place. Furthermore, the one he refused could go to another driver, moreover a French one, namely Pierre Gasly.
Fight to see who has the most points
Gasly has a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2023. Which means he can be placed in the Red Bull Racing, or in the AlphaTauri. However, Red Bull is already complete with Verstappen and Perez fresh off their two-year contract. For this reason, at the end of June, the Faenza team "formally" confirmed Pierre for 2023. According to the latest rumors collected by RacingNews365.com however, Pierre's contract has exit clauses which would allow him to leave, provided that a deal is made with a higher ranked team in the Constructors' Championship. The Alpine, taking advantage of this clause in its favor given its position in the standings, could therefore throw a bait to the Frenchman who, together with Ocon, would form a perfect transalpine line-up. The only obstacle could be the Red Bull family who, for better or for worse, raised him and who, knowing the risk of losing a very good driver, would try the impossible to keep him.
