Coming instead to the sporting aspect, which with an emergency of this kind is clearly in the background, there is a pilot that can breathe a sigh of relief. We're talking about a Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman from Alpine has in fact received two more points on the Superlicence, climbing from 10 accumulated last year to 8. The motivation is very simple and is related to Penalty Points, the tool introduced in 2014 by Formula 1 which consists in adding penalty points (which can be one or more) on a driver's Superlicence. This penalty is linked to how incorrect the driver's action on the track may be. Within one year of the penalty imposed, a maximum of 12 points can be scored. If a pilot were to exceed this threshold, disqualification from the next GP on the calendar would be automatic.

It was May 22, 2022, the Spanish Grand Prix, when Gasly received the first 2 points on the Superlicense, following a contact with Lance Stroll. During the French season, which was in Alpha Tauri, gleaned others 8 points that brought him to share 10 in the Mexican Grand Prix.
