Free practice 2 also ends in Belgium and, therefore, Friday's track activity is over. A session dictated by the first 45 sunny minutes that allowed the riders to set a time with the red tire and a few laps of race pace simulation.
Red Bull (Max) makes a vacuum
The best time of the session did Max Verstappen which he managed to put between him and the second position he occupied da Charles Leclerc A little bit more than 8 tenths, although both will have to start from the bottom and, therefore, the favorites for this grand prix become Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez and, taking the times of free practice 2 as a reference, the favorite seems to be the representative of prancing Horse which is closer to Verstappen than Max's partner is, even if both have an abysmal detachment from Dutch.
All compact
If it weren't for the first pilot of the Red Bull who, unlike Leclerc, has already mounted the new engine, everyone is behind very close: for example, in third and fourth position there are none neither Sainz nor Perez, respectively in fifth and tenth position, but Lando Norris and Lance Stroll, probably the surprises of the day. To follow then, from sixth to ninth position, let's see: Hamilton, Alonso, Russell and Daniel Ricciardo.
And the race pace?
Also due to the strange weather at Spa, the laps in which the race was simulated were perhaps too few to judge accurately the forces in the field. At the moment, with these temperatures (which we won't see again during the weekend), the Ferrari essere essere the most performing and, especially, the most constant, though Red Bull is not far away and the times seem to be equivalent. Mercedes on the other hand seems to be still a little far compared to the two Tops, almost 3 tenths, but we know as the Silver Arrows are never linear throughout the race weekend and, therefore, they too will be the favourites for winning the Belgian GP.
