It's a Formula One that travels, and it also does so expeditiously. With a season ready to wrap up, there is no shortage of requests to be able to host a GP over the next few seasons. The list is getting longer, as is the list of Grands Prix to be contested during the season.
Towards 2023, very busy calendar
As you know, a few months ago the FIA has officialized next season's schedule. In 2023 there will be 24 races. An enormous number and a great effort required by all the teams who will have to deal with situations, in terms of logistics, which are certainly not easy. Triplets will be quite a few, considering that it will start in early March and then conclude towards the end of November. The current calendar frightens the stables due to its size, but new stages cannot be excluded.
Formula One in Colombia, Domenicali treats
Indeed, for some time now there is talk of a possible new stop in Colombia. The goal is to bring a Grand Prix in the Caribbean and, according to the latest, it seems that in recent days Stefano Domenicali was in Colombia to continue the negotiation(has been on the table for quite a while). In this regard, we report the words of the mayor of Barranquilla, Jaime Pumarejo who, in the month of September, spoke in this way about the possible negotiation.
“The negotiations are progressing favorably, but there is still a lot to do. We are still here, that is, it is a real, palpable possibility; it is a financially viable project that brings investment to the city as it is promoted by the private sector. It's not a reality yet, but we're in the running and we hope to reach the finish line. We don't want to create false expectations just yet. The event will last three days, which means that more than 300.000 people would come to see the show, but the important thing is that it is estimated that in a Grand Prix of this scale between 60 and 110.000 people will come from abroad. It would be the event with the highest turnover in all of Colombia”.
“A Formula 1 GP invoices 2,5 times in three days what the Bogotá Corferias exhibition center invoices at least throughout the year. If I had signed, the race would be held in 2024 or 2025. The contract, it is hoped, could last ten years”.
