It was organized on Wednesday a meeting of the FIA World Council in which they were specified new rules which will already be respected from the next ones race weekend. And some might go to help some teams over the course of the season. Let's see all the news in detail!
The parc fermé rules are changing
The first news concerns the replacement of Power Unit under parc fermé regime. In itself the news is not shocking given that it could have been done in the past too make changes with older units in a closed park. But at a cost. That is, one penalty which usually involved leaving from pit lane. The new legislation instead allows teams to replace the unit with one of the newer versions under parc fermé. All without incurring any penalties. The FIA stipulated this new regulation as a result of the many problems of reliability that we witnessed in these races. They will also come granted temporary repairs to the thrusters. But for more information we will have to wait for further directives from the FIA itself.
Fuel temperatures
In the last few grands prix we have seen drastic solutions to get around a problem common to some teams: la temperature fuel. One of the teams in this situation that is always in difficulty is certainly the Red Bull. One of the many proposed rules was approved to fight its this problem. For supporters of "conspiracy theories" all this was done for favor Red Bull. The problems of the Austrian team arise in fuel cooling. In Spain the team has waited until the last second to cool it down at most, going out 10 seconds before the pitlane closed. The legislation specifies precisely this. Fuel can now be cooled by up to 20 degrees in the hottest races. Also the temperature reference will be detected one hour earlier of entering the track, compared to two hours in force today. All this will surely be cause for controversy.
Other changes to the regulation
For the aerodynamics were modified values for the trailing edge rear wing deflection and beam wing deflection tests with gods tightening of static controls.
It also was the rule regulating rear-view mirrors has been revised considering that rear visibility was found to be inadequate for safety needs.
For tests in season for the development of Pirelli tires it was decided to allow the use of mulecars to carry out testing with wet tires. Furthermore Austin and Suzuka they would have a free practice session partially dedicated to the prototype tyres. A new topic that could raise quite a bit of controversy.
Motors 2026: Audi and Porsche?
The topic that is keeping everyone on their toes these days is definitely the news of Audi e Porsche in F1. This was also discussed at this meeting. The FIA World Council has specified that have received an update on the progress of the regulations is they should be finalized and presented before the next meeting, but there is no agreement yet although Porsche and Audi condition their entry on approval of the rules discussed. So the whole thing is postponed to the next few weeks.
