Eight years have passed since that terrible tragedy involving Jules Bianchi right on the Suzuka circuit. But the FIA, even after great strides in technologies to reduce fatal accidents such as that of the French talent, seems to have understood nothing yet.
FIA, tractor on the track while the drivers turn, creepy!
The situations, if compared, are practically identical: Safety Car(followed by red), lots of hydroplaning and a crane to pick up the cars while other drivers are on the track. In that case, Jules Bianchi he loses his car and goes under a tractor; the pilot, after a long agony in the hospital, he will leave us, with great pain for all. Today, eight years after that tragic accident, the FIA once again put the lives of those on the track at risk giving permission to not one, but ben two tractors to circulate freely on the track (one of these was also nonsense). The images, obviously not disseminated by Federation but recovered from Matthew Bobby to Sky, they are creepy.
The anger and fear of Gasly and Verstappen
The pilots still have those terrible images imprinted on the head and, seeing those tractors circulating freely, the first sensation was anger against the Federation. This sentiment can be recovered by listening to the radio team of Pierre Gasly, a great friend of Jules, who passes a few meters from a crane risking a lot and says. “What ***** is a tractor doing on the track! You didn't understand anything!!". The reaction of Max Verstappen and a little' diverse: his is more fear mixed with fright, so that gets distracted and puts two tires in the grassalmost risking turn around. In short, the FIA has made very important choices in recent years to improve security, Such as the Halo in 2018, but still have many things to understand to no longer risk a tragedy like that of Jules Bianchi.
The response of the Federation
There was no lack of response from the FIA which stated on the matter.
“In connection with the incident on lap 3, the safety car had been deployed and the race 'neutralised'. Car number 10, which had collected damage and got behind the safety car, was then driving at high speed to catch up with the train. As conditions were deteriorating, the red flag was shown before car 10 passed the crash site where it had been damaged on the previous lap.”
Precisely for this reason, Pierre Gasly is under investigation and will be investigated at the end of the race. Below is the press release from the Federation.
“Car 10 reached speeds of up to 250km/h when it completed the lap under the red flag after passing the scene of the accident”.
