There are just a few hours left until the Singapore Grand Prix but a new drama, triggered by an indiscretion, shakes up the Maranello scene. The podium in Monza raised the morale of everyone at Ferrari, but this does not mean that the tension has vanished, on the contrary. As reported by the journalist Umberto Zapelloni Ferrari's disastrous season could not only be attributed to the wrong design of the SF-23, but also to the men who have been managing this transition phase for several months. In particular Benedict would have ended up under the critical eye of the presidency Vineyard, to Ferrari, and the new team principal Frederic Vasseur, operational from January 2023 replacing Mattia Binotto. With the risk that both will have to leave the Cavallino by the end of the season.
New earthquake coming?
Ferrari's season began with great optimism based in part on the statements of Benedetto Vigna who had spoken of a single-seater that would have no comparison in terms of speed. This optimism was gradually lost. The disappointing performances in Formula 1 have put several people in the dock, especially technicians who abandoned the lifeboat which was now leaking from all sides.
Vasseur found himself having to defend the work of his drivers, his mechanics, his engineers. Trying to find a solution to a complex SF-23 to decipher. Compared to the beginning of the season, the team has made some progress. At Monza Ferrari was the second force on the track and after Pole with Sainz he also achieved an essential podium.
Vasseur and Vigna at risk
But, as reported by Zappelloni, this progress would not be sufficient according to president Elkann who would like to take back the very man who was kicked out of the Rossa, Mattia Binotto. “The possibility of a reset of the technical staff is being evaluated. In short, are we really sure that Fred Vasseur will still be at the helm of the Cavallino next year? It is said that Elkann is not satisfied with how things are progressing. He misses Binotto and probably also Arrivabene. The problem, however, is enormous: who to entrust the team to? The top F1 players have already all said no more than once..."
This bombshell news was first dropped by Dagospia. Site known for scoops and previews on famous people, and which over the years has also acquired a certain importance in Italy. "Ferrari it is a brand with an enormous market value, but the unfortunate decline that has been witnessed for years in Formula One does nothing but damage the prestige and appeal of the brand with the real risk of deteriorating its economic value [...] To avoid a shipwreck infinite to poor Cavallino, we are evaluating the possibility of a reset of the technical staff that works on the design and construction of the single-seaters".
