Ferrari had not yet signed the engine builders agreement due to the concession a Red Bull Power Trains of the status of new motorist. However, the protests of the men in red did not have much success, and so the Scuderia di Maranello gave in to their grievances. According to what reported by Corriere dello Sport, there will soon be the signature on the agreement.
With the change in regulation, the engines will become less powerful on the endothermic side, while maintaining the classic V6, and will see greater electric delivery. In this sense, the new engine makers (Audi, Red Bull Powertrains and maybe Porsche) will be able to invest more money in the development of a power unit (25 million dollars in three years), as well as having more time available on the dyno.
The veto right will not be exercised
Ferrari had raised protests related to the status of RBPT, which it currently leans on Intellectual Property of Honda for its power units. From 2026, however, the Milton Keynes team will have to rely on an engine developed entirely with its own strength. In this sense, several engineers have already been recruited for the development of the new engine.
Ferrari she hadn't been invited at the last meeting as it had not yet signed the agreement, and this situation sees it return to the ranks and guarantee its future, at least as an engine manufacturer, also in the new generation of Formula 1 which will start from 2026.
