Being able to describe Ferrari's 2023 season it's certainly not easy. A truly difficult start mended by a recovery in the second part of the season, also enriched by Carlos Sainz's victory in Singapore. A different SF-23 that, also with the Japanese GP, confirmed clear progress that Leclerc e Sainz, together of course with Vasseur, they hope to confirm also in 2024.
Vasseur and the first fundamental victory in red
Exactly 9 months have passed since Vasseur's arrival at Ferrari to his first victory with the Maranello stable. A result which, given the seasonal trend, it served the whole environment strongly. Of course, with a year like this the blame cannot be attributed to the former Alfa Romeo team principal, also because when he arrived the SF-23 was already more than ready.
However, the seasonal progress was noticed and, precisely for this reason, Charles Leclerc explained that the path taken by Cavallino is the right one and that his confidence in Vasseur could only be better than this: “I have the utmost confidence in the work that Vasseur is doing: 100%. I know what he is doing for the team and how he is working to achieve results in the long term. I have always been aligned with him and I'm sure we're going in the right direction although, it almost goes without saying, it is obvious that Vasseur needs time."
Leclerc confirms his trust in Vasseur: “We are working in the right direction”
To see the actual hand of Vasseur in Ferrari requires time, but Leclerc is already starting to glimpse something: “There have been several changes that occurred in the short term, others really take a long time and you have to be patient – admitted the Monegasque –. However, I have no doubt that we are working in the right direction. I can't wait for next year to start, but at the same time, with what we are learning in the last few races, I'm really happy to get back on track again and test new things which will hopefully make us improve even more. In terms of results, it might not be as exciting as last season, but in terms of development and learnings, there are a lot of things that are planned for the next races".
Leclerc assures: "With Vasseur in 2024 it will be a different Ferrari"
Ferrari, therefore, is working especially for 2024, in which both Vasseur and Leclerc hope to experience a completely different season"The 2024 project – continued Leclerc – it will be very different indeed from the car we have this year. All this, therefore, combined with what we have learned, reaffirms that it is a great opportunity not to make mistakes next year: the things we have learned all go in the direction of development for next year's car, which is why it is really very important to have a clear idea before the end of the season".
