The official announcement has arrived. So no last minute changes at home Ferrari, which confirms the rumors that have emerged in recent days. Carlos Sainz will in fact mount the fourth power unit and will be forced to starting from the back during the French Grand Prix.
Sainz, the penalty arrives
The news had been in the air for a while and, subsequently of the control unit change happened yesterday, the Ferrari he preferred to execute the exact same strategy used with Leclerc in Canada. In that circumstance, the Monegasque started last and reached the fifth position; Sainz hopes for a similar result which had already made us perceive something yesterday: “Another penalty coming? We'll see…” – with a smile that had already made everything clear.

Strategy time
Now we need to understand what it will be Ferrari's strategy with Sainz during qualifying. In Canada, Leclerc took part in Q1, but the track conditions (we ran in the wet) were not the best and it was decided not to go any further with the Monegasque. We cannot even rule out the possibility that Sainz does not take part in the session, considering the penalty itself.
A step forward is awaited
It will be very interesting and we will have to keep an eye on Carlos Sainz in competition. The choice of red to mount the fourth power unit on F1-75 of Spanish is mainly linked to new updates, in terms of reliability, which do not exclude an improvement also in performance(already very high anyway). It will therefore be an uphill race for Sainz, who however already on Thursday had prepared for this weekend by throwing a very clear message"Getting through to fifth place is doable, the problem is after that...".
Not just Sainz
Not only will the Spaniard mount the new power unit. In fact, the same fate befell Kevin Magussen, soon to therefore he too will start at the bottom in view of tomorrow's race.
