Ferrari would have finally signed the contract renewal with its drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Thus confirming the link with the team beyond 2024. The news of the signing, although there has not yet been the expected official announcement, comes from journalist Leo Turrini following the weekend at Las Vegas. The contract extension of both drivers was long overdue given the solidity of the Ferrari driver duo, e the desire of Vasseur and the team to renew both. However, it was not so obvious given the doubts about possible friction due to internal hierarchies and the hypothesis of a contract with Audi for Sainz. The team that will enter Formula 1 in 2026 is looking for two drivers. The Spaniard has been repeatedly linked to the name of the German brand, also mentioning a pre-contract that Sainz would have signed. However, none of this has been confirmed anymore.
A very balanced couple
The comparison between the two drivers, in a season where the SF-23 did not prove to be a world championship car, was rather balanced, almost like 2021. At the moment the comparison in points in the standings sees Sainz at +12 from Leclerc at a race from the end. Leclerc confirmed that he is a Pole animal, Sainz achieved the team's only victory of the season in Singapore, as well as the only victory for a team other than Red Bull which dominated for the entire season. His performance grew over the course of the season and this made the team trust him for the next few years too.

Renewal for both, announcement soon
The agreement for the renewal of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc with a multi-year contract from 2024 onwards, it would have already been reached and all that would be missing is the announcement which should arrive shortly. Probably also in conjunction with the last race weekend of the season in Abu Dhabi.
This was confirmed by the well-known journalist Leo Turrini who, on Sports Newspaper writes: “There will be official communication soon. Carletto and Carlitos will remain at Ferrari beyond 2024. Leclerc and Sainz will try to win the World Cup dressed in Red.” The two in Las Vegas tasted again what it means to have a competitive car. Despite this, the team was unable to maximize the result, due to a manhole that got in Sainz's path on Friday in Las Vegas. The Spaniard had to serve a hefty penalty, which prevented him from maximizing the result as did his teammate Charles Leclerc, who finished on the podium.
In Abu Dhabi the only thought that will have to be in the minds of the drivers is that of the challenge for second place in the constructors' championship. A challenge that sees them fighting with Mercedes just four points away, despite the extensive damage suffered by Sainz's Ferrari in Las Vegas. Damage for which Vasseur requested compensation from the organizers.
