It was certainly not the race that was expected for Classic Ferrari for sale. Montecarlo Max wins again Verstappen finishing in front of Fernando Alonso and the extraordinary Esteban Ocon. Bad Ferrari that does not go further sixth position with Leclerc and eighth place with Sainz.
Vasseur's words
The strategy was once again wrong. Leclerc returned to the pits without playing the rain joker, which instead caused Sainz's mistake who lost quite a few positions. Commenting on this weekend, where expectations were undoubtedly high, is Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur who spoke exclusively to the microphones of Sky:
How do you rate this race?
“It is difficult to evaluate. It was a bit of a chaotic race. In the first stint the pace was good, Carlos pushed a lot on Ocon but got stuck behind him and in the meantime Alonso went away with Verstappen. we got stuck there. But when the rain came we wanted to take an extra risk because we knew we could be third or fourth, and we were fifth and sixth".
Do you think Sainz's mistake has completely compromised his race?
“The conditions were very difficult to manage. The weather forecast did not predict this type of rain. Unfortunately that's how it went. Now head to Barcelona”.
What are your expectations?
“Let's go back to a normal track. In qualifying the pace was good and we have to repeat it in Barcelona. We can do it".
Will there be any updates on SF-23?
“We will bring many”.
