Safety Car in the race
Although the Safety Car is not so frequent in Bahrain in 2020, both in the first and in the second race held on the alternative layout of the Sakhir track, 2 Safety Cars entered the scene, while in 2019 and 2021 we saw the Safety Cars 1 time.
This recent repetitiveness combined with the arrival of the new single-seaters makes us think that the possibilities are medium-high.
The recommended forecast is therefore YES, there will be the SC in the race
Virtual Safety Car in the race
The only 2 virtuals in Bahrain were on the alternative track which debuted in 2020 as the Sakhir Grand Prix.
The recommended forecast is therefore NO, there will be no VSC in the race
Red flag in the race
In Bahrain it is rare to see a red flag displayed.
The recommended forecast is therefore NO, the red flag will not be displayed in the race
Drivers unmark wet/full wet tires in the race
The Bahrain Grand Prix takes place in the desert, so it's very rare that it rains there. Instead, sandstorms and gusts of wind are more frequent. However, the forecasts tell us that Sunday will be the least windy, with temperatures ranging from 27 to 21°, and that the race will therefore be held in dry conditions.
Furthermore, running in the evening temperatures, as well as the strength and direction of the wind, are bound to decrease.
The recommended forecast is therefore NO, the drivers will NOT unmark wet/full wet tires in the race.
Team double in the race
Winning is nice but doing it with a brace is something special. From 2004 to 2021 there are only 5 Grands Prix in Bahrain in which we have witnessed an "en plein" triumph of a team. On 3 of these 5 occasions it was Ferrari who scored one-two, while the remaining 2 were collected by Mercedes.
In the 2021 season, the only one-two was scored by McLaren at Monza, a sign of how much it was a season played almost solo by Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.
With at least 3 teams competing for the top positions this year, we believe that a one-two is difficult.
The recommended prediction is NO, there won't be a brace in the race
Driver who starts on pole wins the race
Out of 17 races in Bahrain since 2004 only 7 polemen have taken home a win. The last was Lewis Hamilton who took victory in the first of the two rounds in Bahrain that closed the 2020 season. Max Verstappen set the fastest time yesterday during the last free practice session of the day. The Dutchman also has a very balanced car and is the favorite to win the race. However, in qualifying it will be the perfect lap that will deliver the first pole of the season and with a Ferrari very close it is not so obvious to see Max starting undisturbed from the first position.
The recommended forecast is NO, the driver who starts from pole DOES NOT win the race
Number of teams to bring both riders into the top 10
For no less than 9 times since 2004, the teams have brought both drivers to the top 10, in Bahrain, 4. Instead, there are 5 times in which 3 teams have covered the points zone with both drivers. Only 2 times have we seen 2 teams in the top 10, while in 2014 we had the most teams in the points with both drivers, i.e. 5.
The recommended prediction is 4.
Number of cars forced to retire during the race
Since 2018, the cars forced to retire in Bahrain have never been more than 3. Furthermore, 4 times since 2004 there have been 3 or 2 withdrawals, while more rare episodes with a high frequency of withdrawals. There have never been any races without at least 1 retirement.
The recommended prediction for retirements in the race is 2.
