It's quite strange to think that a year ago we were talking about the Singapore Grand Prix as the only exception in a season dominated by Red Bull and Max Verstappen. On this same circuit, 12 months later the situation is very different. All four top teams have at least 2 victories each. With an open drivers' championship, with an open constructors' championship in Singapore the global tension has been felt, indeed. Let's see the tops and flops of the Singapore GP at Fanta F1.
Singapore GP Tops
Land Norris: In Baku he had a weekend to forget, but in Singapore there was no story for anyone, not even for the "cannibal" Max Verstappen. The latter, after hoping for a mistake at the start, had to surrender to a superb Lando Norris. As happened in Holland, the gap with the rest of the group grew as the laps went by, making every attempt to attack futile. Starting in pole position, this time the English driver was not surprised, maintaining the lead from the beginning to the end of the race. Lando takes home an important victory, the third of the season, also giving many points to the Fantamanager.
Nico Hülkenberg: After a great qualifying, Nico Hülkenberg managed to score points again, finishing in the top 10 thanks to a solid performance. He kept high-level drivers behind him, making it far from easy to overtake him.
Oscar Piastri: If Norris had a more solitary race, starting and finishing first, Piastri had a decidedly more frenetic race. Oscar's talent was seen above all in overtaking, in a comeback that brought him to finish on the podium. He showed he could lead the team, also compensating for some questionable strategic choices. And all this in his second season in Formula 1.
Singapore GP Flops
Sergio Perez: On a circuit that has often seen him shine, Sergio Pérez collects only one point. A result that does not help Red Bull to catch up with McLaren in the constructors' championship, nor Pérez himself, stuck behind a Haas or a Williams for much of the race, due to a disastrous qualifying.
Lance stroll: At Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso once again manages to bring points to the team, while Lance Stroll continues to find himself relegated to the back of the field. On this circuit, he continues to show obvious difficulties.
Daniel Ricardo: What could have been his last race in his career did not end in the best way. After a disappointing qualifying, where he was beaten by his teammate, Ricciardo finished the race in last place. An exit that he did not deserve.
