Oscar Piastri seems to have very little left to achieve the first victory of his career, a goal that the Australian Fanta managers also dream of, attracted to Fanta F1 by the great growth of McLaren.
Oscar Piastri's second season in Formula 1 with McLaren did not start in the best way. The young Australian talent struggled especially in the first races of the season, paying the price in comparison with his teammate, Lando Norris, who boasts more experience. McLaren from Miami has always found the podium, and also the victory with Lando Norris. However, the updates introduced in Miami have helped not only bring McLaren closer to Ferrari and Red Bull but also Piastri to the leading group. In fact, Oscar achieved his best placing of the season in Monaco, a second position which brought 23 points to Fanta F1.
What is Oscar Piastri missing to achieve victory?
The Norris-Piastri couple was defined by Helmut Marko as the best of the current lineup. At Fanta F1 the two drivers of the Papaya team are currently third, with 276,5 points scored after Red Bull and Ferrari. It must be said that they also started from lower prices, and gradually reached the cost of the Red's riders, establishing themselves as the second force on the track.
Although the season did not start in the best way for Piastri, from Imola onwards the situation seems to have changed. Piastri achieved a fourth, a second and a fifth place, results still not sufficient to aim for victory, but undoubtedly positive compared to those at the beginning of the season. Compared to the beginning of the season, Piastri's rating at Fanta F1 has risen, stopping at 30 credits while waiting for the next step, victory.
At Fanta F1 the Australian is still far from his teammate who boasts a points average of +20.44. Almost double considering that Piastri has +10.28 on average. But if McLaren's results suggest that the Woking team can even aspire to victories with the improvements, what is Piastri missing to get there?

Piastri admits: “I lack a bit of confidence”
According to Oscar Piastri the issue would be linked to trust and lack of consistency. In fact, before the introduction of the developments on the MCL38, Piastri achieved three eighth places and two fourth places. Norris, on the other hand, achieved two podiums in the first 5 races. Despite the improvements, Piastri doesn't feel that he or the team are doing anything particularly special, but rather that it's the result of continuous improvement through updates. “I don't think we did anything special as a team. We just put the car in a good window. AND with the updates, it is clear that the performance is good. So yes, I think we're all raising the bar".
In Spain no further updates have arrived for McLaren to respond to Red Bull and Ferrari. But despite this, the team led by Andrea Stella seems to have a car capable of fighting for first position. Will this be the decisive weekend for Oscar Piastri and his Fanta-managers awaiting victory?
