Testing track, crazy weather thanks also to the wind and the proximity to the sea which brought the rain, a cheer that made the asphalt tremble. This is Zandvoort, this is the welcoming yet difficult home of the two-time world champion Max Verstappen who with calm, perseverance and a great machine on his side, wins his ninth consecutive victory of the season, which gives him another record. The weather immediately complicated life for the drivers who started on dry tires and were forced to switch to intermediate tires after just one lap, reversing their strategies in a moment of complete confusion. Many twists and turns, including accidents, rain, flags, interruptions and also many Bonuses and Penalties accumulated by our pilots. So let's see the tops and flops at Fanta F1, of the Dutch Grand Prix.
TOP
Fernando Alonso: This time the departure for Fernando Alonso was not a limit but an opportunity. Fernando took it immediately, moving two positions ahead and rebuilding his race, even in the pouring rain, all the way to the podium. A podium that was missing from Canada and which brings many points to the Fantamanagers who fielded him at Fanta F1. His teammate, on the other hand, cannot find peace with the AMR23.
Max Verstappen: We expected a simpler victory for Max. However, even in a race so complex and full of pitfalls he leaves only crumbs to his opponents. For Max comes the ninth consecutive victory, the one that brings him even closer to the record of consecutive seasonal victories which he is now not chasing but shares with Sebastian Vettel. Three out of three for him in Zandvoort.
Pierre Gasly: A fantastic podium arrives, the first actual one in Alpine taking away the Sprint, for Pierre Gasly in Holland thanks to the penalty inflicted on Perez. Great race by the Frenchman who built overtaking moves from P12 and then managed the rest of the race, including a penalty!
FLOPS
Charles Leclerc: The return weekend didn't go well at all for Charles Leclerc which dragged on until Sunday with many problems related to the set-up of a car that was difficult to interpret. On Saturday the accident in Q3 affected his placing. On Sunday, after a contact with Piastri in which he damaged the winger, he struggled to keep up with his opponents due to damage to the back. Not that that's the only source of Ferrari's problems. However, the damage has certainly worsened the position of the Monegasque who is forced to training camp after 43 laps of suffering.
Logan Sargeant: Logan had a lot to lose this time and we can't help but flop him. In a weekend in which Williams entered the points several times, including the qualification in which both Albon and Sargeant entered Q3, the American driver was forced to retire heavily after an impact with the barriers. It's really a shame, considering that we included him in the Fanta F1 recommendations.
George Russell: Let's also put George Russell in the Flops. He seemed to have resumed the race after the initial disaster due to the rain and the team's failure to call the pits. He was comfortably in the top 10 but a contact with Norris on the restart left him in last position. 14 less than the starting one.
