After the round in Barcelona the F3 immediately returns to the track with the back-to-back in Austria. We are at the halfway point for the Formula 3 season, with the free practices in Spielberg we have officially passed the halfway point of the season, with Fornaroli leading the general classification.
Immediate action on the Austrian GP circuit. Many cars already on the track in the first minutes of a session characterized by many exits on the gravel, especially on the one introduced this year in the last two corners of the circuit to try to avoid the controversies that have arisen in recent years due to the track limits.
Fornaroli starts well in Austria
As free practice continues, the times continue to drop, leading to a 1-2 Hitec with just over 20 minutes to go with Browning in the lead followed, just over a tenth of the way, by Stenshorne. Minì instead climbs into third position with his Prema. However, when you enter the last quarter of an hour of the session Fornaroli goes ahead of everyone with a time of 1:21.663.
Wurz closes F3 free practice with a great time
When free practice seemed to be almost over, here it is Charlie Wurz, which occupies 18th position in the Formula 3 world championship, sets the best time, then improving it in the following lap with an excellent 1:21.182, which would later be the best time of the session. Minì will then finish in sixth position.
There is still some time that allows Ramos, of Trident, to overtake his teammate and world championship leader and thus take second place. End of free practice in Austria which creates headaches for some drivers. Beganovic ends up off the track to avoid a contact with very slow cars which would have been very violent at the last corner of the circuit due to the usual traffic when racing and Spielberg. In the end a technical problem at the end forces Fornaroli to stop at the side of the track shortly after turn 1.
