A new team has arrived in the preparatory category after the farewell of the team Jenzer: DAMS Lucas Oil. DAMS will debut in F3 starting next season but has already chosen as his first pilot the peruvian Matias Zagazeta.
The experience that Zagazeta will bring to the track
Zagazeta is not new to the Formula 3 environment, in fact he concluded his rookie season in the series in Monza. Matías obtained as best placement for the Jenzer team a third position in the Sprint Race at Silverstone. A special season for Zagazeta, who had to miss the Monaco round because he had to undergo a emergency intervention for the removal of the appendix.

Before taking the big step towards this category, the Peruvian driver competed in the Formula European Regional Championship by Alpine. Matías also took part in the British F4 in 2021 obtaining the second in the driver standings.

Matias Zagazeta, after the announcement, stressed that he is excited to embark on this new adventure with the team DAMS. "I am very happy to join a team with such a rich history in motorsport, which has been a leading team in Formula 2 for several years. It is a new environment for all in the category with the new generation of single-seaters, but I hope my knowledge will help us to achieve great results together".
The owner of the French team, Charles Pic he stated: ”Following testing in Spain earlier this month, we are excited to confirm Matías for the 2025 season. It has always been important for us to have a driver with experience in the Championship. We hope that Matías can provide us with an important point of view which will join the proven methods of our team in recent years, helping us start our journey F3 since the best way possible".
