Trident confirmed that Christian Mansell to replace Roman Stanek for the remainder of the 2024 season di Formula 2, starting from Baku this weekend. A new experience in an F2 car but not the first, remembering that he took part in the 2023 post-season tests with Trident at Yas Marina.
Mansell takes a major step forward after a 2024 Formula 3 campaign in which he achieved five podiums and a 5th place in the drivers' standings. Before that, he arrived Third in the 3 GB2021 Championship meatthird in the 2022 Euroformula Open championship.
Mansell's arrival in Formula 2: "I'm more excited than nervous"
"I am looking forward to making my FIA Formula 2 debut with Trident Motorsport.", Mansell admitted. “I am extremely happy to race with the Italian team at the Baku circuit and in the next two events before the end of the season. It's going to be a fiery debut on a challenging track like the Azerbaijan one, but I must confess that I am more excited than nervous.”
Team manager Giacomo Ricci added: “We are extremely pleased to field Australian driver Christian Mansell in the next three rounds of the FIA Formula 2 Championship. I consider him to be one of the most talented emerging drivers we have seen in the FIA Formula 3 Championship this year, where he was in contention for the title right up until the final round in Monza.
"Christian is a complete pilot, fast in qualifying and extremely good at managing tyres and overtaking. Making a great debut in Baku will certainly be an ambitious goal, not at all easy.
“We have done a lot of dedicated preparation work with him and I am convinced that it will pay dividends, especially if there are no interruptions in the free practice session. I am sure that all the conditions are there to do well.”
