La F2 Sprint Race of the Spanish GP saw it go up Martins, Maini and Correa on the podium: One of them was though throwback following one penalty inflicted post-match. There are several pilots who have had to succumb to same fate, among these also Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
F2 Sprint Race in Spain: Correa off the podium, Aron advances
On the Montmelò circuit, the driver of the ART Grand Prix Martins grabs the leadership of the race at the start. While the French driver drives undisturbed towards victory, Miyata follows him in second position but, following two penalties for track limits, octave scale.
The overtaking on the last lap on Bortoleto, Juan Manuel Correa manages to cross the finish line in fourth place. However, thanks to the penalty received by the Japanese driver, the number #8 of DAMS gets the third place and a long-awaited and significant result for Correa, who returned to the podium in the preparatory category distance of almost 6 years from the serious accident which saw him involved in Spa-Francorchamps.

I festivity they had though short life. At the end of the Sprint Race of F2 in Spain, the Stewards have awarded a Correa a 5 second penalty for having broken i for the fourth time track limits. While the American is relegated to eighth place, his place on the podium is occupied by the championship leader Paul Aron.

Correa is not the only driver to have received the unwelcome surprise of a post-race penalty. Piles – who crossed the finish line in ninth place – received two penalty from 5 seconds each, thus slipping in 12esima. To the list is added also Andrea Kimi Antonelli than from tenth passes 15th.
Same fate for the other MP Motorsport driver, Franco Colapinto, who with a double penalty leaves 11th place for 18th. They also follow Villagomez, Maloney and Stanek who are relegated to 17th, 20th and 22nd position respectively.
