After the Free tests of the morning, the Autodrome of Monza is ready to host the Qualifying F2 that will establish the starting grid for the Italian GP. The temple of speed has several new features given by the modernization works of the circuit that has been resurfaced and has undergone some changes to the track. It is precisely these changes that have led the drivers to make many mistakes during the Free Practice but now it is time to put down the visor and give it their all to conquer the pole position.
At the end of the session the best time is marked by Maloney who takes his first pole in F2 ahead of Hadjar and to Aron
1° – Zane Maloney – 1:32:160
2° – Isaac Hadjar +0,089
3° – Paul Aron + 0,162
The 30 minute qualifying session begins and the first to go down is Staneck with his Trident having to check that the technical problems that occurred on his car during the Free Practice sessions have been resolved and try to find confidence on a track where he has done very little lap time.
instead Oliver Goethe he hasn't yet found confidence with his car and in fact he immediately makes a spin in turn 1 but then manages to restart without problems.

The first half worthy of note is that of Antonelli that with 1:32.941 takes provisional pole but is still far from Maloney's free practice time.
Red flag caused by Martins
With 20 minutes to go, everyone goes out on the track and starts looking for the fastest lap but immediately a Red flag which does not allow many to finish their attempt as there is debris on the track caused by a long Martins between the two Lesmos.
Bortoleto causes second red flag
Once the debris was removed, the young drivers returned to the track and tried to improve their times but Antonelli maintained the lead. However, shortly after the restart, a new Red flag this time caused by Bortoleto who also ends up in the gravel between Lesmo 1 and Lesmo 2. This is a hard blow for the Brazilian driver who was the main pursuer of Hadjar for the championship and now finds himself forced to start last in both races thus giving the Campos driver the opportunity to increase his gap in the standings.

In search of the perfect ride
Meanwhile, time continues to pass and the pilots can return to the track when only 7 minutes to go and therefore it becomes very important to find the perfect lap right away. During the first attempt Maloney sets the best time in 1:32.160 by just 89 thousandths of a second ahead of Hadjar and then all the drivers try to do a second lap without being able to let the tyres cool down but almost no one manages to improve.
The Antonelli manages to make a good lap positioning himself in 6° position and thus managing to lift his spirits a little after the mistake he made during FP1 with Mercedes which led him to not finish the session. Instead Bearman closes 8° and he remains a little bitter because during the free practice sessions he had shown a better pace.
