At the end of the Sprint Race di Formula 2 of the Hungarian GP, the three drivers who took the podium answered journalists' questions at the press conference. Richard Verschoor, Kush Maini and Victor Martins they talked about their sensations – straight away – after the first race of the Hungarian weekend.
Verschoor speaks in conference after the F2 Sprint victory of the Hungarian GP
Richard Verschor, with today's victory, reaches four victories in the preparatory category. Speaking to the press, the Trident pilot admitted: “I am very happy with today's victory, although I had to be patient because the choice of tires was a gamble”. Breathe and rectify: “Not really a bet, because I thought I had made the right choice, but when someone overtakes you on the soft tires you start to have doubts. Immediately afterwards, however, I realized that he – Andrea Kimi Antonelli – he was in trouble”. He added: “To celebrate I'll wait a few hours this time” – referring to the Jeddah episode in which he was disqualified post-race. Of tomorrow's race, in which he will start from the 10th spot on the grid, the Dutchman says: “I think in F2 there is always an opportunity, but we'll see tomorrow to choose the right strategy and push from there".
Fifth podium of the season for Kush Maini
Kush Maini conquers the fifth podium of the season and confesses that it is a year with several ups and downs. "I'm happy with the number of podiums but this doesn't always reflect the season. We missed several opportunities in the past rounds, but now I'm happy to be back fighting”. The Invicta Racing driver, during the post-F2 Sprint conference in Hungary, then complimented Verschoor: “I think today Richard made a good job. It was difficult to follow him closely, so I had to maintain a 2 second gap. She handled the tires well and I think the best we could aspire to was second place".
Finally word to Victor Martins
During the press conference - which took place following the Sprint Race of the Hungarian GP - he also spoke Victor martins, who got it the last remaining place on the podium. "I think that the key element for the race of today was to accept the fact of not being able to use the advantage of the soft at the start". He continued: "Seeing Kimi push I wondered if I could do it too, but I knew I couldn't. But when I felt I could push then I did and we got to the end easily, actually I still had something to give”. In tomorrow's Feature the French driver will start from fifth position: “I think I can fight for the victory. For a few rounds we have returned to where we should be. In terms of pace and feel the car is very sound. I'm super happy we never gave up, we worked hard and now this work is paying off".
