Williams welcomes six new technicians ready to give their contribution to the development of future cars, with an eye also to regulation 2026. The historic English team has chosen to invest in new professionals to join the team, in order to be able to start a more competitive and, perhaps, more attractive project in the eyes of an undecided Carlos Sainz. Satisfied James vowles which, through the official Williams press release, gave a warm welcome to the six new signings.
Williams: technicians new to reverse course
The 2024 season has not started well for Williams. With two races left before the summer break the team finds itself occupying ninth position in the constructors' standings, thanks to the Suns 4 points conquered by Alexander Albon. Grove's team is experiencing complicated years, especially when compared to those belonging to his glorious history. In fact, a ten years since the last Pole Position won by Felipe Massa in Austria, the seasonal results proved to be increasingly poor and fluctuating. Furthermore, this year too Williams has failed to take that step forward to consistently battle with mid-table teams, instead relegating itself to the rear. For this reason, the addition of new technical forces can only benefit the English team.

Five of the six new technicians with a lot of experience in Formula 1
What immediately stands out in the Williams press release is the curriculum of the new recruits who will soon start working for the English team. In fact, apart Sorin Cheran, an expert in artificial intelligence and who arrives in F1 after 17 years of experience at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, the others have all already played in important teams and in winning projects. For example Matt Harman, former Technical Director of Alpine and who will now take on the role of Design Director, contributed to Lewis Hamilton's first world title in 2008 and BrawnGP's extraordinary season the following year. Fabrice Moncade, who has worked for Mercedes, McLaren, Sauber and BMW in Formula 1, will take on the role of Chief Engineer from XNUMX July, after having been Head of Performance Analysis at Ferrari. Juan Molina instead, who has already worked at Haas and Red Bull, will be the new Chief Aerodynamicis. Steve Winstonley, formerly of Red Bull, has been appointed Chief Engineer, Composites and Structures. In the end, Richard Frith, coming from Alpine, will join the English team as Head of Performance Systems.
Williams, an ambitious renovation project
As the press release itself explains, the five technicians will be part of the technical team of Pat Fry, who joined Williams last November. Cheran, instead, will take care of the acquisition, archiving and indexing of data related to the car. Together with these names, 21 new recruits coming from other teams will arrive at Grove, with the aerodynamic department which will benefit greatly 11 assumptions. Probably taking into account the fact that we will soon have to prepare for them 2026 regulations. A project made of "bold ambitions and huge momentum" as Pat Fry himself defines it, in a statement which presents itself with rather bright and celebratory tones. All of this, perhaps, with the aim of Williams becoming a siren and attracting the Spanish driver to herself with her singing. Carlos Sainz.
