On the eve of the race weekend in Canada, Williams team principal James Vowles wanted to make a brief but necessary examination of the current state of the team.
Williams still doesn't meet expectations
Williams is continuing its growth process very slowly to return to fighting for the most important positions. Having finished last season in seventh place in the constructors' championship has led everyone to hope for a further step forward in 2024. However, after the first races this scenario does not seem to have come true, on the contrary, Williams seems to be having more difficulties. TO Monaco the first 2 points of the season arrived thanks to the excellent performance of Alexander Albon, but this is not enough. There is still a long way to go.
In fact, Williams, as team principal James Vowles explained rather harshly to the Dutch site Formula1.nl he doesn't just have one area to improve, but the entire company. The situation therefore requires more time and above all more resources.
"There is not a single part of this company that I can be satisfied with – said Vowles – we are nowhere near the level of a team competing for the title. This may seem like a harsh statement, but unfortunately it's the truth. There is still a lot to do and a lot to change before taking the right path."

In fact, Vowles' ambitions are not to leave a team in disarray but to aim for constant growth, while being able to count on the resources available to a low-ranking team. According to the latest rumors, one of Williams' objectives would seem to be to also focus on another experienced driver, that is Carlos Sainz. In fact, Logan Sargeant's two seasons would not have fully satisfied the team, which was interested in changing direction.
