Not the best of weekends for Max Verstappen. The world championship leader started the Monegasque weekend struggling quite a bit – in FP1 he finished 11th – , and then improved as the sessions went by until second place in FP3. However, the troubled qualifying session puts the Dutchman in a very uncomfortable position ahead of tomorrow's race. The number 1 of Red Bull will start from the sixth square, and he will have to work overtime if he wants to aim for positions that best represent him. Below are Verstappen's words at the end of qualifying for the Monaco GP.
Not an easy session
Max Verstappen didn't start qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix badly, but the first alarm bell came when Sergio Perez was excluded in the first round, finished in 18th position. It was clear that Red Bull was not the usual fury, increasingly obvious in light of the steps forward made by Ferrari and McLaren. When it came time to let the rabbit out of the hat, Max wasn't there for the roll call. In fact, at the first corner of the last attempt in Q3, Max lost his rear, touching the barriers and being forced to abort. According to the pilot, the car was too slippery. Black Saturday for the world champion team and its rider.

Verstappen's words after qualifying for the Monaco GP
Here are the words of Verstappen after the disappointing qualifications in Monaco: "I wouldn't say I made any mistakes. I would invite anyone to drive this car and go faster than me, because it was tremendous. I was pushing to the limit, but the car was undriveable. I was at the limit all weekend to set the best time, but it simply wasn't possible. This weekend we are behind. In Imola we managed to incredibly turn the situation around, while here the car just doesn't work. We don't feel under pressure, it's the machine that doesn't work and we have to accept it. In the race I will try to do the best I can and not do stupid things. We will try to seize every opportunity, even if there aren't many here.”
