A Singapore, in the last F1 weekend, the Dutchman reduced his gap in the standings to Norris and Piastri. Now, Max Verstappen he is -41 from the Englishman and -63 from the Australian, but the world title is now more difficult than before, here's why.
Verstappen beats Norris, 2nd in Singapore despite difficulties
At Marina Bay, the Red Bull driver resisted pressure from Lando Norris for several laps. Verstappen's goal, of course, was to finish the race ahead of the two McLarens and close the gap. standingsAlthough he wasn't faster than the Englishman, he once again managed to bring out the best in himself, doing everything possible to avoid losing ground. And so it was a success, with three points recovered from Norris, six from Piastri, and for now, the question of a comeback in the world championship is postponed until Austin. The Dutchman's performance is certainly worthy of applause, but the points he collected aren't that great, but why?
The World Cup is even more difficult

On the eve of the Singapore GP, Verstappen had a 44-point deficit to Norris and 69 to Piastri. With seven races remaining, to win the title, he would have needed to gain an average of approximately 6,3 points on Norris and approximately 9,86 on Piastri in each GP. At Marina Bay, Max closed to within 41 of the Englishman and 63 of the Australian. He's certainly closed the gap, but now in each GP the average points he needs to gain over Norris has risen to approximately 6,83, while that over Piastri is 10,5. So, if the world title challenge already seemed daunting, now it's even more so. One thing's certain, though: Max isn't one to give up easily. And in Austin, where there will also be a sprint race, he's certainly a candidate for a leading role.
