Among the numerous rumors in the rider market, what is certainly the one that reigns supreme is what you see Max Verstappen juxtaposed with Mercedes. The latest rumors spoke of a meeting after Miami between the entourage of the reigning world champion (who has a contract with Red Bull until 2028) and the leaders of the House of the Star. The team principal Toto wolff, however, nipped any news of a meeting between the two parties in the bud.
Wolff: “No meeting between Verstappen and Mercedes”
On Monday evening in New York, on the occasion of a promotional event with the sponsor Whatsapp, the Austrian team principal and Mercedes partner put to rest all the rumors regarding a possible meeting with the Verstappen clan. "People invent meetings – explained Wolff speaking to Reuters Television - he makes up what happens with the pilots, but these things should be behind closed doors and everything that came out wasn't quite the right thing."
The Austrian manager he did not deny the existence of the deal itself, as well as the truthfulness of the possible meeting. Whether this meeting is held in secret, without being disclosed, or not at all, only those directly involved will know. What we are certain of, however, is that the Verstappen-Mercedes soap opera will not end quickly, whatever the final outcome.
