After a race that ended too soon in Australia, Max Verstappen pulled out his claws and won the GP of Japan, pulling ahead of his pursuers.
Verstappen wins again
Verstappen wins for the 57th time in his career and becomes the only one, after Michael Schumacher in Ferrari, to win at Suzuka three times in a row. Compared to last season, Red Bull has kept the gap with its opponents fairly unchanged, with the difference that compared to September of last season, Ferrari has now climbed onto the podium. The Maranello team is the only one to have snatched a victory from Red Bull during the past season and at the moment the only team capable of aiming for the podium in a race without too many twists.
After the Australian Grand Prix, Red Bull brought a package of updates to Honda. As stated by Verstappen to the microphones of sky sports f1 after the Japanese GP:
“We made the right decision before qualifying, we changed the car a lot with the race in mind. I was happier with the car today than the simulation in free practice. When you feel it well it becomes easier to drive. After the last stop we were able to push, for the rest we went into management. This was a great race.
Like the other riders, Max also struggled at the start and then improved in terms of performance.
“The only problem was at the start, where I had to stay in front. Then the car got better and better. Even with the clouds the track was even more favorable to us. We had a good strategy, we couldn't have done better."
Also a brief idea about next weekend. In fact, China, in addition to returning to the F1 calendar since Covid, is hosting the first Sprint Race.
According to Max:
“It will be a hectic weekend with Sprint. We haven't been there in a long time, it will be interesting"
