La Ferrari exits from Chinese Grand Prix with a fourth and fifth place with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, at the end of a not particularly brilliant weekend. The Redheads they missed the podium, also placing themselves behind Norris' McLaren (which took second place). At the end of the Chinese GP, Frederic Vasseur spoke to Sky Sport in the classic post-race interview.
Vasseur in the interview with Sky at the end of the Chinese GP: "Updates will come"
A good race at the start, but why did Ferrari struggle so much with the hard tyre?
“We had to do a good job in qualifying. We had a good stint on the mediums and had a conservative approach. We struggled more with the hard compound and suffered. It's a question of 1 tenth or a little more: however, we need to understand why, even if the real problem was starting in sixth and seventh position. We have to do better in qualifying."
Was it not possible to anticipate the developments of Miami-Imola?
“In the factory the guys work day and night for the next updates. I can't ask for more: we're pushing like crazy. We also have to consider the Sprint weekend and when you only have one hour of free time it's not the best. I think we didn't get the most out of this car this weekend. The front row was not far from our reach."
What didn't work compared to the Sprint?
“The pace yesterday was good and better than Norris's, if we look at it as a reference. They probably had a better interpretation of the Hard, while we did well with the medium ones. We have to do a better job and we'll talk about it again in Miami."
What do you expect from the new update package? Is there anything to say among the pilots?
“We discussed it yesterday and I don't think there's anything else to say. I haven't spoken to them but for me there is no drama. We expect something important from the updates: every little penny can make a difference. Everyone will do it and improve, we have to do it more than the others, especially to do better in qualifying."
