An race to forget for the Ferrari. The Maranello stable was called to the litmus test, but - after an excellent qualifying performance yesterday - does not go beyond ninth and tenth position with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
Vasseur: “The degradation of the soft has scared us”
Race characterized by a pace that, compared to the opponents, has never existed. Ferrari once again proves to be a top car in qualifying, while in the race he continues to struggle too much. The Ferrari team principal Frederic analyzes the Silverstone weekend, in which the Red team emerged defeated Vasseur, who spoke to Sky Sport:
Vasseur, how do you evaluate today's race?
“I think the problem arose from Friday when we didn't have the chance to test the pace, especially with Leclerc. We shot mostly with the soft tires and, to be honest, we were scared by the degradation they had shown. For this reason, we preferred to use the medium and hard ones, but we didn't push them. We missed a lot: Charles could have done better with the safety car, but I think the main problem is that we were too conservative."
It must also be said that this is not really your track, right?
“Yes… but we should have done a better job. I spoke to Charles briefly and he told me there was no degradation: staying conservative was not the right choice”.

Did you struggle with all the compounds?
“I don't have the same picture. I think that without the safety car we would have done better, but this is not the result we expected."
Can the updates of the next teams scare you?
“We will go from Silverstone to Hungary. We are talking about two extreme tracks, then there will be Spa. This means that we will cover a very large range and the adaptation of the updates will be crucial. We will bring new pieces soon. We are so close that a small mistake can literally be crucial."
"I'm not worried"
So you're not worried?
"Absolutely not. Yesterday if we had put everything together we would have been first in line."
Also because here it doesn't take much to go from the first row to the fifth...
“It's true that, if we look at the latest races, we can go from second to tenth or vice versa. It's all about optimization. It's true that Silverstone isn't our best track and we need to do a better job on this."
What do you think of McLaren?
“They made a step forward already in Austria last week. It's true that Silverstone suits them better, but it's essential to understand what will happen in Hungary in seven days."
