It's official: the Italian Grand Prix of F1 will remain in Monza until at least 2031, thanks to an agreement that extends the current contract expiring in 2025 for a further six years. A historic result, which rewards the efforts of renewal of the Autodromo Nazionale and the support of the Italian institutions. The announcement It came directly from Formula 1, which communicated the extension of the agreement through its official channels.
Monza: tradition and innovation
Formula 1 and Monza continue their long love story. In this year's edition, Ferrari returned to victory, showing all the charm of a home win for Italian fans. Monza has proven it, it is not just a circuit: it is a symbol of a country, of a people, but above all of Formula 1. Built in 1922, it is the second oldest track in the world still in operation and has hosted every edition of the Italian Grand Prix since 1950, with the exception of 1980. A historic circuit, the scene of legends and records, such as the fastest lap in the history of F1 set by Lewis Hamilton in 2020, with an average of 264,362 km/h.
Despite its history, Monza has had to look to the future to maintain its place on the calendar. The renovations completed in 2024, including the resurfacing of the track and the expansion of the underpasses, were essential to ensure safety and improve the spectator experience. But the challenges do not stop there: the new contract commits Monza to further improvements, such as the renovation of the pit building and the expansion of the Paddock Club.
The words of Domenicali and Sticchi Damiani
Formula 1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed great satisfaction with the agreement:
“I am delighted that the Italian Grand Prix will remain on the calendar until 2031. Monza is at the heart of Formula 1 history and the atmosphere there every year is unique, thanks to the Tifosi who gather in large numbers to support Ferrari and the drivers. The recent upgrades and planned investments show a strong commitment to the future of Formula 1 in Italy. I would like to thank the President of the ACI, the Italian Government and the Lombardy Region for their passion and support.”

Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of the Automobile Club of Italy, also underlined the importance of the agreement:
“It is a great honor for the Automobile Club d'Italia to have been able to secure six more editions of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. This result is the fruit of the precious contribution of President Domenicali, the Italian Government and the Lombardy Region, who have invested significant resources to improve this century-old circuit. Monza is a unique place in the world and we will work to maintain the standards required by modern Formula 1.”
A victory for Italian motorsport, even with the unknown of Imola
The agreement is not only a victory for Monza, but for all of Italian motorsport. However, Imola's future remains more uncertain, with the renewal still under negotiation. Will this renewal deal the final blow to Imola?
