Toyota could be ready to make its return to F1 after a 15-year absence, thanks to a partnership with American team Haas. According to what has been learned from Formula.hu and by other media during the race weekend a Silverstone the Japanese giant would have in fact started negotiations with Haas for a plan that provides for gradual entry starting from 2026.
Toyota returns to F1? The plan includes Haas
Toyota is reportedly considering forming an alliance with the Haas team, similar to that seen between Alfa Romeo and Sauber in past years. Negotiations between the two parties are underway and, if successful, the Toyota brand could appear on the American team's cars as early as 2025. Initially, the collaboration would concern the production of the chassis, with the use of the structures by Toyota in Cologne, which include an advanced wind tunnel. The power unit, at least for the first few years, would continue to be supplied by Ferrari, but in the future the possibility of seeing Toyota develop its own engine cannot be ruled out.

In fact, they are not new rumors that speak of a return of Toyota in Formula 1 and these initially they referred precisely to an entry as an engineer. Already in 2023, Toyota had expressed interest in re-entering as an engine manufacturer, evaluating entry in 2028, after observing the effectiveness of the new 2026 rules. However, Honda's successes with Red Bull prompted Toyota to consider an early return. The possibility of a partnership with Haas represents a strategy to re-enter the Circus gradually and in a sustainable manner, taking advantage of the experience accumulated in the World Endurance Championship and the advanced facilities in Cologne.
In the past, several rumors have suggested a possible return of Toyota, but official confirmation has never arrived. Now, with negotiations underway with Haas, the return of the Japanese giant seems to be more concrete than ever.
