Mercedes wants to clarify the "Hamilton case" and what is happening inside the paddock. On the question of anonymous email who accuses Mercedes of having sabotaged Lewis Hamilton - who found the podium again in Spain after 12 races without anything - Toto Wolff also intervened, trying to calm things down a bit in view of the triple header.
Hamilton case, Toto Wolff responds to accusations of sabotage
On the eve of the race weekend in Spain, the Daily Mail reported the arrival of an anonymous email containing information about alleged sabotage by Mercedes against Lewis Hamilton. This email went around the paddock, finding confirmation among the various journalists contacted and bringing back memories of the Horner case. There is so far the most absolute mystery on the issue. It is not known who the sender is who suggests from the email that he is a Mercedes employee.
Interviewed by Sky Sport F1, Toto Wolff expressed his disappointment on the issue, dismissing the accusations of sabotage which were the subject of the anonymous email.
“Pilots have good and bad days. When things go against you, it's clear that you're not happy. Lewis is Formula 1's most iconic driver and part of the Mercedes family and as long as he is part of it, he will be a friend. All these conspiracy theories came from someone who didn't have all his wheels in place."

No hard feelings with Lewis for his choice to leave the team
At the basis of the accusations there is a fact, namely that Lewis Hamilton, like Carlos Sainz, is separated at home. The team would have reacted badly to this somewhat surprising farewell. Announcing the farewell to Mercedes and the departure to Maranello even before the start of the season has in fact destabilized everyone a bit. But according to Toto Wolff this did not generate bad feelings in the team.
"We have two cars that we want to collect points for the constructors' championship. I have zero respect for people who hide behind a computer or behind anonymous Instagram accounts. If anyone has any constructive criticism, please bring it forward and we will look into it. But, as Frederic Vasseur said, how can anyone think that anyone in a team could go against their own car? I totally respect the reasons why Lewis went to Ferrari. There are no hard feelings."
