Ferrari starts again from Charles Leclerc. Day 3 of the tests in Bahrain, ahead of the start of the 2024 season, ends with the best performance of the Monegasque driver, ahead of Russell's Mercedes and Max's Red Bull Verstappen. It must be said, however, as yesterday, that Leclerc's best performance was recorded with the tyre C4 (softer than C3 of Verstappen) which will not be used on the Sakhir track for next week. Taking to the track in the last test session in Bahrain were: Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, George Russell, Lando Norris, Alonso, Gasly, Albon, Tsunoda, Zhou and Hulkenberg.
Ferrari, Leclerc also convinces in race pace
Last test session in Bahrain which, as expected, provided several interesting insights into the race pace. The top teams have in fact concentrated on it on the pace to keep with the various tyres. Leclerc, and in particular the Ferrari if we also consider Sainz, he has proven to fly with both the C1 and C2 tyres. Greater difficulties, however, manifested with the C3. The indications, however, especially if we consider the past season, they are very positive at the moment. The SF-24, as also told by the pilots and the team principal Vasseur, he proved to be super fit and above all a good base to be able to program and understand what it is which area needs to improve during the 2024 season which, after these tests in Bahrain, is getting ever closer to the start.
Beware of super Max
If on the one hand, however, there is a super Charles, it must be underlined that the man to beat is always: Max Verstappen. The Dutchman showed excellent race pace, immediately confirming his excellent feeling with the car. The RB20 seems to be the clear favourite. The signals given yesterday by Perez, however, were certainly not the same as those seen by his teammate and world champion Verstappen. Not bad in the final half hour either the pace shown by Alonso in his Aston Martin, although the Spaniard specified that 2024 will be a different season compared to 2023, with the difficulties of being able to shine (just like last year) which seem to be particularly complicated.
Bahrain Test 2024, day 3 concluded: the season begins!
