Italy is preparing to host the first of the two seasonal events in Imola. This weekend, Formula 1 arrives in Emilia Romagna, after the heavy absence of the past season due to the floods that devastated the area. Italy is currently the only European stage that boasts two Grands Prix, with the presence of two historic circuits like that of Imola and Monza. But the situation could soon change. Europe is no longer so attractive for F1. Among the countries with the most push are America, which already has three GPs on the calendar, and the Arab countries. After years, modernization work is finally underway in Monza, but the impression is that this is not enough because politics is also involved. For this according to Domenicali the double presence of Imola and Monza on the calendar would be seriously at risk.
Sunday reports on the continued presence of Imola and Monza on the calendar
The calendar is already very packed with 24 races, but despite this the requests are increasing, endangering the older stages, which do not meet the standards now achieved by the latest arrivals. Stefano Domenicali has spoken out about the future of Imola and Monza. The CEO of Liberty Media explained the reasons that could lead to the exclusion of one of the two Grands Prix from the F1 calendar.

“Italy is central in the F1 calendar, but important issues must be addressed relating to the resources that the country intends to invest and the infrastructure, because a change of pace is needed by improving the safety of the racetracks and the offer of services for the public. In Monza we will have to make a point with the president of the ACI, the Italian infrastructure must be improved and we will need to think about the future of Monza and possibly also of Imola. It is still possible that Italy keeps two races after 2026, but realistically I think it will be quite difficult".
