With an official announcement the FIA has announced that none of the ten teams have exceeded the budget cap for the 2022 season. The various ones were denied rumors in the paddock who mentioned a concrete possibility that several teams - in particular those considered "top" - had exceeded the maximum spending limit. Therefore, since the budget cap was introduced, Red Bull remains the only team to have exceeded it in 2021.
Budget cap, the FIA announcement: "No team has exceeded it in 2022"
What communicates everything is the Federation through a press release, as Roberto Chinchero says on Motorsport.com"The FIA Cost Cap Administration issued certificates of conformity to all ten competitors the review process was intense and very thorough, starting with a detailed analysis of the documentation presented by the teams which was followed by a very detailed audit of all activities carried out by the teams outside the Formula 1 programme. The process required multiple visits to the team premises, as well as careful audit procedures to assess compliance with financial regulations. The Cost Cap Administration notes that all ten contestants acted in a spirit of good faith and cooperation throughout the process. The FIA has made and will continue to make significant investments in this department for the collective benefit of the sport".
FIA-Liberty, the work is not finished yet
The budget cap story ends on a positive note, at least for this season. None of the teams went over the limit, but that doesn't mean it won't continue the work for Liberty Media and FIA who have one great goal: try to punish the team that would go over the budget with a sporting penalty and not financial.
