Sainz's weekend started terribly. He wouldn't have caused a sensation if the bang from the Spaniard during FP1 had undermined the confidence of 55, but Carlos has definitely put aside the negative thoughts of Friday Hungarian. A race in line with what the Maranello red team allows to date, which allowed Sainz to finish eighth.
Sainz's comeback
Started eleventh, the pilot of the Ferrari he set the Hungaroring on fire arriving at the sixth position in a few corners. After attempting to undermine Leclerc without success, the Madrilenian returned to the pits on lap sixteen to use the harder compound, returning to the track in eighth position. In an attempt not to let Russell escape, Carlos was overtaken by the attacking Perez.. The Mexican broke away wide at the first corner, mitigating the disadvantage given by Sainz's DRS.
Not exactly pardoned by the Carlos strategy: the Spaniard also suffered Leclerc's undercut, who returned on the first lap to fit the hard tyre. In the final phase, 55 he was unable to defend himself from Russell's Mercedes. The Spanish he therefore finished in eighth position 7 tenths behind Leclerc.

Values are real: Sainz's words
Sainz did not hide the value of the single-seater: “AWe finished exactly where we are, seventh and eighth. Our rivals are developing a lot and have gone one step further than us. On long stints we struggle a lot and we need to improve. We are developing the car well but we are unable to correct some defects. On these circuits we suffer with the budget. We need to understand why we did badly and see if we can improve at Spa."
