Not the best day for Carlos Sainz, who after a complicated Sprint Race places his Ferrari in 7th place in qualifying, making the race in China an uphill one.
Spin in Q2: a mistake
If in the short match Sainz had already pulled out his claws with the various defenses and attacks, in qualification once again he brought out his aggression... perhaps too much.
In Q2 they feared the worst at Ferrari. At the last corner Carlos Sainz loses control of the car and spins hitting barriers at high speed. The Spaniard minimized the damage to his Ferrari and thus continued qualifying.
Carlos Sainz at the microphones of sky sports f1 said:
“In Q2 it was a mistake, I hit the curb and the car took off. It's not ideal, but I've recovered well. I managed to turn the car to impact and limit the damage, which allowed me to continue. It was a bad moment."
Qualification in China according to expectations for Sainz
Unlike Charles Leclerc, who declared himself surprised by the result, for Sainz the seventh position obtained in qualifying is confirmation of what emerged in the only free practice on Friday.
“Already in FP1 we saw that we weren't fast on the flying lap, we struggle on this circuit. It doesn't surprise me, but we will do better in the race."
