Friday's free practice for the Canadian Grand Prix was not very indicative due to the intermittent rain that affected both hours of action on the track and which forced the drivers, including Sainz, to remain in the pits for most of the time . The conditions for the rest of the weekend remain a question mark and this complicates the choice of each team in fine-tuning the set-up to allow the drivers to express themselves at their best in qualifying and in the race. Ferrari is coming off a victory in Monaco which gave the team a great boost. But now we are looking for consistency and to evaluate the fruits of the updates brought to Imola.
Carlos Sainz: “We need to focus on ourselves and be ready”
Ferrari, despite the bad weather during the two free practice sessions in Canada, experimented with different solutions by bringing 3 different compounds to the track, namely the intermediate, the soft but also the medium tires with both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. The Monegasque driver in FP2 he took a few laps to warm them up and on the tenth lap he set an encouraging 1'16"556, the fastest on that compound and fourth overall, while Carlos placed 13th in 1'17"722. Shortly thereafter, the rain increased in intensity and so both SF-24s used intermediates. Leclerc completed 24 laps, Sainz 27.
A decent number of laps considering the conditions. However, there is still a lot of work to do in view of qualifying and the race.

“A very Canadian Friday at this time of year, with the weather changing a lot, alternating between dry and wet conditions. Even though the track was constantly changing, we managed to lap as much as possible and put in some decent laps on both the slicks and the Intermediate compound. However, it is not easy to draw many conclusions from today's sessions, so we need to focus on ourselves and be as ready as possible for tomorrow.”
