The positive streak of results continues for Carlos Sainz with the podium achieved in the Japanese GP. A third place which confirms the good form of both the Spaniard and Ferrari, the only team always on the podium this season.
Three out of three for Sainz
Carlos Sainz considers himself satisfied, and rightly so. Despite the initial degradation which caused the riders in front to lose pace - in any case uncatchable - the Spaniard went so far as to hypothesize a possible strategy like that of Charles Leclerc at a stop. Instead, his GP was full of overtaking in Japan, which is not easy because in Suzuka you need to be well in the slipstream if you then want to take the position before turn 1.
It was therefore a very hard-fought podium, which left Carlos with positive feelings. He thus commented to the microphones of sky sports f1:
“It's the third podium in three races. For a rider it is nicer to be able to fight for the top positions rather than behind like last year. I am happy".
The last stint was important for the outcome of the Spaniard's race. If previously he had had more difficulties, in the end he focused on attacking with the hard tyre. The choice was bearing fruit, and for the team it will certainly be a point of analysis in view of the next races.
In the future he can play it
With the greatest degradation in the initial phase of the Japanese GP, Sainz was unable to keep up with the Red Bull Racing drivers. That was the only occasion in which he could have played for a better position. However, the world champion Scuderia was able to benefit from important updates, unlike Ferrari which only brought small improvements.
Sainz comments in this regard:
Let's not forget that Red Bull brought an important update here, but we didn't. They had a better race pace, but we can compete at other circuits. We need to improve the car in our weak points as we are doing.
