Starting from tenth position, the Spaniard managed to climb five positions and obtain a positive result for Ferrari, in a weekend that promised to be particularly difficult.
Carlos Sainz concluded the Dutch GP in fifth position, after a comeback race. Starting from tenth position, the Spaniard immediately gained a position thanks to the impeding penalty imposed on Hamilton, managing to overtake further in the race and obtain a good result for Ferrari, in a weekend that promised to be difficult.
Sainz offered a more optimistic analysis of the Italian team's performance than he did post-qualifying, as he toldSky's microphones:
“After qualifying we were dejected, I was also disappointed with the performance. Today, however, we are happier and encouraged. We saw a McLaren that is one step ahead of everyone, it will be difficult to beat in Monza. But we will be there with the others, a lot will depend on qualifying and race pace.”
Despite the lack of updates brought to Zandvoort, both Ferrari drivers achieved positive results, exceeding expectations in the race. Charles Leclerc finished third and Sainz fifth, thus giving some hope to the fans. Carlos Sainz acknowledged to DAZN after the Dutch GP that the world championship is still open:
“The only certainty is McLaren. I believe McLaren will be at the front in all the races, they will be the team to beat. There is a trend between Red Bull, Mercedes and us. It's clear that Max (Verstappen) is always there. Max never makes mistakes.”
For this reason, the Spaniard appears motivated for the next races, especially in view of the next stage in Monza, with the new updates that Ferrari will bring to the track: “You have to believe that the podium in every race is possible. It can always be very conflicted.”
