Il 2026 will see the debut of the new regulation of Formula 1. The cars will have aactive aerodynamics which will allow you to improve performance. The project is not yet well defined, but according to the current idea the wings will have one high load configuration in curves (to provide greater grip) and a low load on straights (to increase top speed). This system could be adopted by both wings o only from that back.
In the second case, some teams tested the models al simulator and some rather alarming characteristics emerged. When cars are in a straight line, for example, the low drag setup and the engine at maximum power mean that the single-seaters let's turn around accelerating. Furthermore, even the least difficult curves cannot be tackled without ending up in a spin.
Il aerodynamic balance change produced by these innovations is estimated to be three times the current one produced by the DRS. At the moment, the only way to avoid spins would be drive conservatively, conservative enough to be slower than the current single-seaters Formula 2. The FIA has therefore imposed theapplication of active aerodynamics also to the front wing. This way, you shouldn't experience such drastic balance changes.
