Red Bull unveiled the long-awaited RB17 at the prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed: designed by the legendary Adrian Newey, this hypercar represents a significant evolution in the automotive landscape, carrying with it the legacy of 20 years of innovation in Formula 1.
Red Bull RB17: Adrian Newey's Hypercar debuts at Goodwood
The RB17 project took time and dedication but it can finally see the light. The RB17 is a two-seater car equipped with a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and a naturally aspirated V10 engine running at 15.000 rpm, capable of producing over 1.200 horsepower. This centrally mounted engine transmits power to the rear wheels via a carbon fiber gearbox. Weighing less than 900kg, the RB17 can reach speeds in excess of 350km/h, offering lap times comparable to those of Formula 1 cars.
The RB17 project marks a turning point for Red Bull and Adrian Newey. Despite the technical challenges and design evolutions, the RB17 is destined to become a milestone in the world of hypercars. Newey, what will leave Red Bull in March 2025, assured that the project will be completed before its departure, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of motoring.
With the RB17, Red Bull has not only created a dream car for speed enthusiasts, but also demonstrated the potential for innovation and technical excellence that can be achieved when passion and engineering meet.
Newey: “The RB17 embraces everything that Red Bull stands for: undeniable power, speed and beauty”
Christian Horner, CEO of the Formula 1 team, expressed great enthusiasm for the project: "We are happy to reveal the RB17. It's one of the most authentic and exciting projects Red Bull Advanced Technologies has ever undertaken. With 20 years of heritage in the world of Formula 1, it made sense for us to design our hypercar from scratch. Combining technical innovation, results and charm, we are talking about a historic car. I am very proud of the team and happy to see this world debut at Goodwood. We expect the RB17 to become a classic."
Adrian Newey shared his enthusiasm and vision behind the RB17: “For many years I have pondered the idea of taking on the challenge of designing our own hypercar. From concept to delivery, it was a magnificent project, as was the journey undertaken. It's a truly extraordinary moment: the RB17 hypercar embraces everything we stand for: undeniable power, speed and beauty. It is adaptable in its capabilities and we made sure to design it as a two-seater, so that the thrill of driving at Formula 1-like speeds can be enjoyed and shared with a friend or partner."

An expression of art and performance
The RB17 is not just a racing car, but also a work of art. In an exclusive interview given to Motorsport.com, Newey said that the result of such a project “It should be a work of art that you are happy to display as such in your home or garage. The fun must simply come from the artistic aspect. And it has to sound good.". This philosophy is reflected in every aspect of the RB17, from its breathtaking aesthetics to the unmistakable sound of the V10 engine.
A unique experience for the lucky owners
Red Bull plans to build just 50 examples of the RB17, each of which will be customizable by customers. Each owner will be welcomed into the Red Bull family through a comprehensive journey, including track days on some of the most famous circuits in the world. Furthermore, customers will have the opportunity to customize the car down to the smallest details, from the color of the exterior paint to the interior materials.
