After Monaco and Montreal, particular and not very indicative stages to test the developments, several teams are aiming for Barcelona. The Spanish stage, having all types of corners, can provide more indicative data on the development and values on the track. At the top the fight seems to be getting quite interesting. Red Bull is coming off a victory in Canada - albeit a difficult one - and is still not satisfied with the updates brought to Imola. For this reason the Austrian team is confident of the weekend in Spain, a stage in which a "promising" package of updates will arrive according to Red Bull super consultant, Helmut Marko.
Barcelona indicative stage, Red Bull will bring updates
McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari brought updates on three different weekends. The first was Red Bull, in Suzuka. McLaren's response instead arrived in Miami, a stage in which it managed to snatch victory from Red Bull with Lando Norris. A rather constant growth allowed McLaren to remain competitive in the further two stages as well. Ferrari of the three it was the last to bring the first package of updates and it did so in Imola, together with Red Bull, evolving again. Victory came for the Red team in Monaco, and their first major defeat in Canada with a double zero. In Barcelona all three teams aim to bring a new package of updates.

Things started to get complicated for Red Bull in Imola, a stage in which the team brought other updates to the RB20. As also said by the competition, in particular by James Allison, Red Bull seems to have had more of a “Downgrade rather than Upgrade”. This has allowed the competition to gain ground, particularly McLaren which has been in a constant phase of development since last season. However, Helmut Marko is somewhat skeptical about the possibility of seeing a leader other than Max Verstappen.
"The competition has caught up, no doubt, but we're not worried. We don't have just one opponent, but three who are taking points from each other. I hope things stay that way” said Helmut Marko to speedweek. com.
If the two events in Monaco and Canada masked the performances of the three teams in Barcelona, it is usually possible to understand the true scale of values of the championship. Red Bull is focusing a lot on the stage in Spain and on the next updates to put itself firmly in the lead again, but there is still a strong doubt linked to the simulator data, which is not very accurate. Despite this, Marko says he is confident about the updates that will arrive in Barcelona: “There will be further improvements to the car and the data is promising ".
